Little Green Light Integration

This article is intended for new and existing CourseStorm/LGL users. If you are an existing LGL user looking to get started with CourseStorm, contact our sales team for a personalized demo and consultation.

P.S. Although CourseStorm and LGL have their own costs, our integration is completely free. Plus, it’s set up and supported entirely by the Customer Success Team right here at CourseStorm!

CourseStorm integrates with Little Green Light (LGL), a popular nonprofit donor management software. Our integration allows programs to automatically add their CourseStorm class registration data to their LGL account, where they can track constituents, events, and fundraising.

This article describes what information is sent to LGL and explains the key features you might use.

How It Works

When a new registration is completed in CourseStorm, CourseStorm pushes the registration data to your LGL account. Note: This is a one-way integration: LGL does not push data to CourseStorm.

CourseStorm sends the following data to LGL for each registration:

  • Full name, email address, phone number, and address of the person who completed the registration (student, parent, or another individual)

  • Class name and cost of the registration

A student profile in CourseStorm will create or match an existing constituent profile in LGL. Similarly, a CourseStorm class will create or match an existing event in LGL.

Integration Queue

Your CourseStorm registration data will first land in your integration queue. The integration queue is accessed from your dashboard by clicking Settings > Integration Queue.

On this screen, you will see the new constituent records created, matched, or updated by CourseStorm. You can review and save the data individually or in bulk. When you save a constituent record, you’ll see the student name turn directly into a link to their new constituent profile.

Constituent Profiles

CourseStorm will include the email address, phone number, and address on the student’s new constituent profile, and you can manually add more information as needed. Their registration funds are under “Giving Summary” on the right. You’ll see their registrations under “Related Activity” on the bottom of their profile.

The constituent in LGL will be the person who completed the registration. Because CourseStorm allows people to register other students (such as a friend or child), the constituent may not be the student who took the class. The student’s contact info will be visible in the Notes section.

Events

A CourseStorm class will create or match an existing event in LGL. New events are created by the first registration for that class. Your LGL events provide you with a quick summary of your registrations. However, we recommend using CourseStorm’s robust registration tools for your day-to-day program management.

The event date in LGL will be the date of your first registration for that event. If you’d like to change the date to your class start date, simply edit the event in LGL.

Giving

CourseStorm tracks the funds from each registration. Here’s how funds are labeled:

  • Gift Type = Other Income

  • Campaign = Class Registration

  • Category = Class Registration

  • Payment Type = CourseStorm
