2021 Subscriber Terms of Service Update

On December 16, 2021, CourseStorm’s updated Subscriber Terms of Service goes into effect. All Account Owners with active sites in November 2021 were sent an email notification of the Terms of Service update 30 days prior to this effective date.

Summary of Changes

  • We’ve updated the guidelines for Subscriber Content and Use of the Platform.

  • We’ve used clearer language to explain Subscriber Responsibilities.

  • We’ve included more detail about the Platform’s availability, security, and privacy.

These terms must be accepted by an Account Owner for each CourseStorm site by January 5, 2022.

What Will Users See on the Site?

Account Owners will see an overlay with a copy of the Terms and a checkbox to agree to the terms when they next log in.

Admin Users who are not account owners will see a periodic pop-up reminder that their Account Owners need to accept the Terms to ensure continued access to the Admin Menu.

Prior to the acceptance deadline, these pop-ups will be dismissable. Users can click the “X” on the pop-up to dismiss it and continue to work in the Admin Menu without accepting the terms.

What Happens if My Program Doesn’t Accept the Terms by the Deadline?

After January 5, Admin Menu access will be blocked on the site for all Admin Users on sites that have not yet accepted the Subscriber Terms. Users and Owners will see the same pop-ups as noted above, but the pop-ups will not be dismissable unless the Terms are accepted.

Admin Menu access will be restored for all Users when an Account Owner accepts the terms.

Will Students Be Able to Register on my Site if my Program doesn’t Accept the Terms by the Deadline?

The student-facing side of CourseStorm sites will not be initially affected by the Subscriber Terms pop-ups. The pop-ups appear only on the Admin Menu. Student registration and the ability to take credit card payments will not be impacted between December 16, 2021 and January 5, 2022.

After January 5, 2022, CourseStorm may disable payouts or deactivate sites that have not accepted the Subscriber Terms of Service.
