Using Your Own Images
The photos you choose tell a story and create a lasting impression. The best way to make sure your photo is eye-catching and professional is to follow the recommended sizing for your CourseStorm site.
CourseStorm has a free built-in image search feature; however, you may want to upload your own files. When you upload your own images to CourseStorm, you may need to adjust the pixel dimensions of the file.
Featured Classes require a minimum image size of 1,024px wide by 768px tall. This larger size is required for the image to display in the rotating Featured Classes carousel on your home page. If you plan to let CourseStorm select your Featured Classes automatically, we recommend that all your images are at least 1,024px wide by 768px tall.
Classes that will not be set as Featured require a minimum image size of 600px wide by 300px tall.
Cropping (Basics)
CourseStorm automatically crops your images in response to the viewer's screen. For example, an image on a widescreen computer may be cropped differently from the same image on a smartphone.
For attractive images that will crop well, we recommend choosing simple images for your classes that convey your message on any device. Keep the focal point in the center, and use minimal or no text on the image. (There’s plenty of room for text in your class description!) If you follow these guidelines, your image should look great across all devices.
Cropping (Advanced)
If you’d like more control over your images, here are details about how CourseStorm crops images:
CourseStorm always prioritizes the center of an image when cropping.
Generally, the width of the image is preserved unless the image is exceptionally wide and short.Â
Generally, the middle 40% of the height of the image will be preserved. In other words, CourseStorm will crop 30% off the top and 30% off the bottom of the image.
